Scripture

When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. Acts 2:1-4 (NIV)

Do you know what wind is? Wind is air that moves! We can't see the wind, but we know it's there. Let's find out how!

First, we can HEAR the wind! Listen... whoooosh! The wind makes sounds. It goes whoosh in the trees. It goes whoosh around our house. We can't see the wind, but we can hear it go whoosh!

Next, we can SEE the wind move things! Watch me blow this paper! (Blow paper pieces in the air.) The wind makes leaves dance on trees. The wind makes your hair move. We can't see the wind, but we can see it move things!

We can also FEEL the wind! Put your hand up like this. Now I'll blow on it. Do you feel that? The wind touches your face. The wind touches your hands. We can't see the wind, but we can feel it!

Today is a special day called Pentecost! On this day, God sent his Holy Spirit to help us. The Holy Spirit is like the wind. We can't see the Holy Spirit, but we know he's with us!

We can HEAR the Holy Spirit! He talks to our hearts. He says "I love you!" He says "Be kind!" We can't see the Holy Spirit, but we can hear him in our hearts!

We can SEE the Holy Spirit help people! He helps mommy and daddy love us. He helps us share our toys. He helps us be good. We can't see the Holy Spirit, but we can see him help us!

We can FEEL the Holy Spirit with us! He makes us feel safe. He makes us feel loved. He's always with us! We can't see the Holy Spirit, but we can feel him!

Let's pray! Dear God, thank you for your Holy Spirit! Even though we can't see him, we can hear him, feel him, and see him help us every day! Amen!
