Do you clean up your toys?

Look around! Are your toys put away? Did you pick up your blocks? What about your dolls and cars? When Mommy or Daddy says "Clean up time!" what do you do?

Sometimes we clean up our rooms when someone special is coming to visit. We put toys in the toy box. We make our beds. We want everything to look nice!

In the Bible, there was a man named John. John had a very important job. He told everyone, "Get ready! Get ready! Jesus is coming!" Jesus is the most special King ever!

But John didn't mean clean your room. He meant clean your heart! How do we clean our hearts? We say "I'm sorry" to God when we do wrong things. We ask God to forgive us.

When we hit our brother - we say sorry to God. When we don't share our toys - we say sorry to God. When we don't listen to Mommy - we say sorry to God. Then God makes our hearts all clean!

John helped people get ready for Jesus by putting them in the water. This is called baptism. Splash! The water helped show that God was cleaning their hearts.

We can get ready for Jesus too! We can say sorry to God. We can ask Him to make our hearts clean. Then we're ready for Jesus!

Dear God, sometimes we do things that make You sad. We're sorry. Please forgive us and make our hearts clean. We want to be ready for Jesus. Amen.
