Scripture

As is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: "A voice of one calling in the desert, 'Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him. Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth. And all mankind will see God's salvation.'" Luke 3:4-6 (NIV)

Christmas is coming! Yay! Do you like when grandma and grandpa come visit? I do too! When company comes, mommy and daddy clean the house. They sweep, sweep, sweep the floor. They pick up toys. They make the beds nice and neat.

In our Bible story today, there was a man named John. John lived by a big river. John told people, "Get ready! Jesus is coming!" But John didn't mean clean your house. John meant clean your heart. How do we clean our hearts? We say "I'm sorry" to God when we do bad things. We ask God to forgive us. That makes our hearts clean and happy!

Jesus is coming back someday! We want our hearts to be clean and ready for Jesus. When we do something wrong, we say "I'm sorry, God." God loves us so much. He forgives us and makes our hearts clean like new!

Do you clean your room every day? Yes! We clean up our toys every day. We clean our hearts every day too! We talk to God every day. We say "I'm sorry" when we do wrong things. We ask God to help us be good.

Jesus is coming! That's so exciting! Let's keep our hearts clean and ready!

Dear God, help us say sorry when we do wrong things. Make our hearts clean so we're ready for Jesus. We love you, God. Amen.
