Summary of this sermon...
Showing love is more than just saying it, it's about taking action. Jesus taught us to show love by keeping His commandments and taking care of each other. We can show love by providing for those in need, praying with others, and visiting the sick. As Jesus said, "If you love Me, you will keep My commandments" (John 14:15) and "feed my sheep" (John 21:17).Valentine’s day is coming this week. This is a day when we tell people how much we love them. How do we tell people we love them. Some people say I love you with a card. Some with a box of chocolates. And some with candy that has messages on it.
John 14:15 (NASB95)
Jesus said, “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.
Jesus told Peter, “If you love me, feed my sheep.”
I think what Jesus was saying was that we have to do more than say we love each other. We show love when we take care of each other.
When we provide food to people who do not have any, we show love. When we pray with someone we show love. When we visit someone who is sick we show love.
That is what Jesus meant when he said take care of my sheep.
