Give each child a piece of paper and crayons.
Today we talk about promises! A promise is when you say you will do something. Like "I promise to share my toys."
Our Bible story is about Jacob. Jacob loved Rachel very much.
Draw a big heart! Color it red!
Rachel had a daddy named Laban. Laban said to Jacob, "You can marry Rachel if you work for me."
Jacob said, "Yes! I will work!" Jacob worked and worked and worked. He worked for a very long time.
Let's count to seven! 1-2-3-4-5-6-7! That's how long Jacob worked!
Clap your hands seven times! 1-2-3-4-5-6-7!
But then something sad happened. Laban did not keep his promise. He gave Jacob the wrong person to marry.
Draw a sad face.
Jacob was very sad. "You broke your promise!" Jacob said.
Laban said, "Work more and then you can marry Rachel."
So Jacob worked more! Let's count again! 1-2-3-4-5-6-7!
Stomp your feet seven times! 1-2-3-4-5-6-7!
Finally, Jacob got to marry Rachel. He was so happy!
Draw happy faces! Color them yellow like the sun!
Laban was not good at keeping promises. But God always keeps His promises! God loves you! God will never break His promises to you!
We should keep our promises too. If we say we will clean up toys, we clean up toys!
Dear God, thank You for keeping all Your promises. Help us keep our promises too. Amen.
