Let's make something fun together! We're going to make Jacob's special ladder while we learn about Jacob's dream.
Who likes to sleep? Do you dream when you sleep? Dreams are like movies in your head! Today we're going to learn about Jacob's special dream.
Look at this! This is Jacob's Ladder! Watch what it does! (Show the toy.) Wow! It moves up and down! You're going to make one too!
Jacob was a man who loved God. Jacob had to go on a long, long walk. Walk, walk, walk! (Have children march in place.) Jacob walked and walked until it got dark. Time to sleep!
Jacob found a big rock. He put his head on the rock like a pillow. Would you like to sleep on a rock? No way! Rocks are hard! But Jacob was very tired.
Jacob closed his eyes and went to sleep. (Close your eyes and pretend to sleep.) While Jacob slept, he had a very special dream!
In Jacob's dream, he saw a big, big ladder! The ladder went up, up, up to heaven where God lives! (Point up high.) Angels were going up the ladder and down the ladder, up and down, up and down! (Move hands up and down.)
At the top of the ladder, Jacob saw God! God said, "Jacob, I love you! I will take care of you everywhere you go!" God promised to be with Jacob always!
When Jacob woke up, he said, "God is here! God is with me!" Jacob was so happy! He took his rock pillow and poured special oil on it. He called that place "God's house."
Jacob's ladder shows us something special! Jesus is like Jacob's ladder! Jesus came from heaven to earth to help us get to heaven! Jesus loves us so much!
Let's pray: Dear God, thank You for loving us! Thank You for Jesus! Help us remember You love us always! Amen.
