Look at this! (Show flotation device.) This keeps people safe in the water. When we go swimming or in a boat, we wear this to stay safe. It helps us float! Can you say "float"? Float, float, float!
I want to tell you a story. Some people went fishing in a big boat. Most people put on their life jackets to stay safe. But one man said "No, I don't want to wear one." That was not a good choice.
Then a big storm came! The wind went "Whooooo!" (Have kids make wind sounds.) The waves went "Splash, splash, SPLASH!" (Have kids make wave sounds.) Oh no! The boat flipped over! (Have kids gasp and put hands on cheeks.)
The people with life jackets were safe. They floated to the shore. But the man without a life jacket was not safe. He went under the water and couldn't come back up.
That makes us sad, doesn't it? The man needed his life jacket to be safe.
Did you know Jesus is like our life jacket? The Bible says God loves us SO much! He sent Jesus to keep us safe forever and ever. Jesus loves you! Jesus loves me! Jesus loves everyone!
When we believe in Jesus, He keeps us safe. Just like a life jacket keeps us safe in water, Jesus keeps our hearts safe. Jesus is our best friend who will never leave us.
Let's pray: Dear God, thank You for sending Jesus to love us and keep us safe. We love Jesus! Amen.
