Scripture

Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10 (KJV)

Look at this! This is called a stethoscope. Doctors use it. The doctor puts it on your chest. Listen, listen, listen! The doctor hears your heart go thump-thump, thump-thump. Your heart is inside you!

When you go to the doctor, they check if you're healthy. They look at your eyes - blink, blink! They look in your ears. They listen to your heart with the stethoscope. Thump-thump, thump-thump! If something is wrong, the doctor can help fix it. God gave us doctors to help us!

Today we learn about David. David was a shepherd boy. He took care of sheep - baa, baa! God made David a king. David loved God so much! But sometimes David made bad choices. Sometimes David's heart wasn't clean inside.

David knew his heart needed to be clean. So David talked to God. David said, "God, please make my heart clean! Please help me!" And God helped David!

Sometimes our hearts need to be clean too. Maybe we get angry. Maybe we don't share our toys. Maybe we say mean words. When our heart isn't clean, we can talk to God just like David did. We can say, "God, please make my heart clean!"

Let's pray together! Dear God, please make our hearts clean. Help us be good. Thank you for loving us. Amen.
