There was once a little red hen. She was walking around saying, "Cluck, cluck, cluck!" A sneaky fox wanted to catch her. But the little red hen was smart! She got away from the fox. The fox couldn't catch her!
Jesus told people about a fox and a hen too. Some mean people wanted to hurt Jesus. They were like the sneaky fox. But Jesus was strong! Jesus said, "I'm not scared of that fox!"
Then Jesus said something very sweet. He said, "I love you like a mama hen loves her baby chicks. A mama hen keeps her babies safe under her wings. I want to keep you safe too!"
Can you flap your arms like wings? Flap, flap, flap! That's how a mama hen covers her babies. Jesus loves us like that! He wants to keep us safe and warm.
Jesus loves you SO much! When you're scared, Jesus is there. When you need a hug, Jesus loves you. When you feel sad, Jesus cares for you. Jesus never goes away!
Let's pray: Dear Jesus, thank you for loving us like a mama hen loves her babies. Keep us safe and close to you. We love you! Amen.
