Look! I have two presents! This one has brown paper. This one has pretty Christmas paper with a bow! Which one looks more fun? (Show both gifts to the children).
Let's pass this pretty present around. When you hold it, tell me something you like to get for Christmas! Toys? Books? Hugs? (Let each child share quickly).
On Christmas morning, you see pretty presents under the tree! Red paper! Green paper! Shiny bows! But what if you saw a present in plain brown paper? Would you be excited? Maybe not so much!
You know what? God gave us the best present ever at Christmas! But His present didn't come in fancy paper. God's present was baby Jesus! Jesus was born in a barn with the animals. Moo! His mommy Mary was young. His daddy Joseph made things with wood. Not fancy at all!
But Jesus is the BEST present ever! God loves us SO much! Jesus came to show us God's love!
When Mary found out she was having baby Jesus, she was SO happy! She ran to see her friend Elizabeth. Elizabeth was having a baby too! When Elizabeth heard about Jesus, her baby jumped inside her tummy! Jump, jump, jump! Elizabeth said, "Mary, you are so special! Your baby Jesus is special too!"
God gave us Jesus because He loves us. Jesus is better than any toy or treat. Jesus shows us God's love every day!
Let's pray: Dear God, thank You for baby Jesus! Thank You for loving us so much! We love You! Amen.
