Scripture

Luke 3:7-18

Look at this pretty Christmas present! (Show the gift.) Do you have presents at your house? Let's count! One, two, three! (Count with fingers.)

There was a little boy who looked at presents every day. He counted his presents. One, two, three! Then he counted his sister's presents. One, two, three, four, five! His sister had more!

The little boy was sad. He ran to Mommy.

"Mommy! Katie has more presents!" he said.

Mommy said, "Christmas is not about getting presents. Christmas is about Jesus! Jesus is our best gift!"

  • Do you count your presents?

  • How do you feel when you're sad?

Christmas makes us happy! We're happy because baby Jesus was born! Presents are fun, but Jesus is better than any present!

A man named John told people about Jesus coming. People asked, "What should we do?"

John said, "If you have two coats, give one away. If you have food, share it!"

We can share too! When we share our toys, we feel happy inside. When we give hugs, we feel happy. Sharing makes everyone smile!

  • What toy can you share with a friend?

Dear God, help us remember baby Jesus makes us happy. Help us share our toys and be kind. Thank you for Jesus! Amen.
