Scripture
Someone in the crowd said to him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the inheritance with me.” Jesus replied, “Man, who appointed me a judge or an arbiter between you?” Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.” Luke 12:13-15

A monkey sees yummy rice in a jar. The jar has a small hole. The monkey puts his hand inside to grab the rice. But oh no! His hand gets stuck!
The monkey won't let go of the rice. He holds on tight, tight, tight! Now he can't get out. That's not very smart, is it?
The monkey should have let go. Then his hand would be free!
Jesus tells us a story too. A man had lots and lots of food. More food than he could eat! He said, "I need bigger boxes to hold all my food!"
But God said, "That's not what's important. Sharing is better than keeping everything for yourself."
God wants us to share our toys. God wants us to share our snacks. When we share, we make others happy!
Don't be like the silly monkey who wouldn't let go. Don't hold on tight to everything. Sharing makes God happy!
Let's pray: Dear God, help us share our toys and food with our friends. Help us be kind and not grabby. We love you, God. Amen.
