Treasures in Heaven (Preschool Adaptation)

Laying up treasures in heaven.
Object
A Piggy Bank and some paper "money" with things we can do to lay up treasures in heaven written on them to be inserted into the piggy bank during the lesson.
Scripture
Sell your possessions and give to the poor. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Luke 12:33-34 (NIV)
Activities + Resources
Do you have a piggy bank? A piggy bank is where we put coins! *Clink, clink, clink* goes the money when we drop it in! Every day we can put money in our piggy bank. Soon we have lots of money!
Jesus wants us to save money. That's good! But Jesus says something even MORE important. Jesus says we should save up treasures in heaven! Heaven treasures are the BEST treasures!
How do we get heaven treasures? We get them by being KIND! When we are kind, God is so happy! Let's think of kind things we can do:
- Give hugs to someone who is sad
- Share our toys
- Help Mommy and Daddy
- Say "I'm sorry" when we make a mistake
- Give food to hungry people
- Say "please" and "thank you"
- Help a friend who fell down
- Pray for our family
Every time we are kind, we get a treasure in heaven! *Ding!* Another treasure! *Ding!* Another one! Being kind every day gives us SO many heaven treasures!
Dear God, help us be kind every day. We want to collect lots of treasures in heaven! Thank you, God! Amen.
