Object
A book on the meaning of names which should be available at the library. You could also use the cards found in most gift shops and bookstores with names and their meaning.
Scripture
She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins. Matthew 1:21
Activities + Resources
Do you know your name? Your mommy and daddy picked a special name just for you! Names are very special.
Some boys are named John. That means "God's special gift." Some girls are named Joan. That means "God's special gift" too!
Some children are named Daniel or Danielle. That means "God takes care of me."
Some boys are named Michael. Some girls are named Michaela. That means "like God." God has an angel named Michael!
A long, long time ago, Mary and Joseph were going to have a baby. They didn't pick the baby's name. God picked it! God sent an angel to tell them, "Your baby's name is Jesus. Jesus will help people." Jesus means "God saves us." God loves us so much! He sent baby Jesus to help us.
Jesus is the most special name ever! Jesus loves you!
Dear God, thank you for baby Jesus. Thank you that Jesus loves us. We celebrate Jesus' birthday at Christmas. We love you, God. Amen.
