All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. Acts 2:4 (NIV)
Look! I have balloons and a birthday cake! Do you know what these are for? A birthday party! But today is not your birthday. Today is the church's birthday! This is a very special day called Pentecost.

See this balloon? It's flat. It needs air! Watch me blow it up! *Blow up balloon* Now it's full of air! On the church's birthday, God sent His Holy Spirit to fill up Jesus' friends. The Holy Spirit is like God's breath that helps us!
Look at our birthday cake! It has candles on it. Let me light one candle. *Light candle* See the pretty fire? On the church's birthday, God sent fire to Jesus' friends. But it was special fire that didn't hurt them! The fire showed that God was with them. God is with us too!
Every birthday needs presents! *Hold up wrapped gift* On the church's birthday, God gave His people special gifts. He gave them love, and help, and forgiveness. God gives us these same gifts today!
Now let's sing "Happy Birthday" to the church! Ready? "Happy birthday dear church, happy birthday to you!"
Let's pray: Dear God, thank you for the church's birthday. Thank you for sending Your Holy Spirit to help us. We love You! Amen.
