Scripture

The LORD had said to Abram, "Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you." Genesis 12:1 (NIV)

Sometimes we do new things! New things can feel scary. But guess what? Someone helps us!

When you first rode a bike, did Mommy or Daddy hold you? Yes! When you first went in the swimming pool, did someone hold you? Yes! They helped you feel safe.

Look! I have something to cover your eyes. If you couldn't see, would you feel scared to walk around? Yes! But what if I held your hand? Then you would feel safe! Someone you love is helping you.

In our Bible story today, God told Abraham and Sarah to move to a new home. They didn't know where they were going! That sounds scary, doesn't it? But God said, "I will show you the way. I will help you." So Abraham and Sarah trusted God. They knew God would take care of them.

Do you do new things? Yes! You try new foods. You meet new friends. You go new places. Sometimes new things feel scary. But God is always with you! God helps you just like Mommy and Daddy help you.

When you feel scared about something new, remember: God is with you! God loves you! God will help you!

Let's pray: Dear God, thank you for being with us. When we feel scared, help us remember you love us. Amen.
