Scripture

He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Quiet! Be still!" Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. Mark 4:39 (NIV)

Look! I have a toy boat! Do you like boats? Boats go on the water. Some people ride in boats. It's fun!

When you go in a boat, you wear a special jacket. It's called a life jacket. It keeps you safe in the water. Safety is important!

Sometimes there are big storms. The wind goes "whoooosh!" The rain goes "pitter patter!" Storms can be scary.

One day, Jesus was in a boat with his friends. A big storm came! The wind went "whoooosh!" The waves went "splash splash!" The boat was rocking back and forth like this. (rock back and forth)

Jesus was sleeping. His friends were scared! They woke up Jesus. "Help us!" they said.

Jesus stood up. He talked to the storm. "Be quiet!" Jesus said. "Stop!" And guess what happened? The storm stopped! The wind stopped going "whoooosh!" The waves stopped going "splash!" Everything was quiet and calm.

Jesus' friends were so surprised! "Wow!" they said. "Jesus is so strong! Even the wind and waves listen to Jesus!"

Jesus loves us too! When we are scared, Jesus can help us feel better. When we are sad, Jesus can make us happy again. Jesus takes care of us!

Let's pray: Dear God, thank you for Jesus! Thank you that Jesus loves us and takes care of us. Help us remember that Jesus is always with us. Amen.
