Sermon
That's What It's All About (Preschool Adaptation)
Recommended Age:
Lower Elementary
Theme
Each church member is an important part of the body of Christ.
Object
No object is needed, but you could use a recording of "The Hokey Pokey."
Scripture
Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. 1 Corinthians 12:27 (NIV)
Do you know "The Hokey Pokey"? Let's sing it!
You put your right hand in,
You put your right hand out.
You put your right hand in
And you shake it all about.
You do the Hokey Pokey
And you turn yourself around
That's what it's all about.
We use our hands! We use our feet! We use our head! We use our whole body!
What if your hand said, "I don't want to play"? That would be silly! What if your foot said, "I'm not important"? That's silly too!
All parts of you are important! Your hands are important. Your feet are important. Your head is important. You need ALL of you!
The church is like your body! We are all part of God's family. Some people sing songs. Some people help others. Some people teach Bible stories. Some people give hugs.
Everyone is special! Everyone is important! Just like your hands and feet, we all help each other.
God made you special! God loves you! You are important in God's family!
Let's pray: Dear God, thank you for making me special. Help me be kind to others. I love you, God. Amen.
