Scripture

Jesus asked, "Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine?" Luke 17:17 (NIV)

Look at this pretty card! A friend sent me a "Thank You" card. It made me so happy! When someone gives you something nice, what do you say? That's right - "Thank You!"

Today we're going to learn about saying "Thank You" to Jesus. Our story is about ten sick people. They had spots on their skin that made them feel yucky. They couldn't hug their friends or play with other people because they were sick.

One day, these ten sick people saw Jesus walking by. They called out, "Jesus! Jesus! Please help us!" They knew Jesus could make them all better. Jesus heard them and said, "Go see the priest." A priest is like a special helper.

As the sick people walked away, something amazing happened! The spots on their skin went away! They weren't sick anymore! Jesus made them all better! They were so happy! They jumped up and down! They danced! They sang!

But wait - only one person came back to Jesus. He ran back and said, "Thank You, Jesus! Thank You!" Jesus asked, "Where are the other nine people? Didn't I help ten people?" Only one person remembered to say "Thank You."

God gives us so many good things! He gives us yummy food to eat. He gives us clothes to keep us warm. He gives us a cozy home. He gives us people who love us. Do we remember to say "Thank You" to God?

Let's practice saying "Thank You" to God right now! Put your hands together like this. Let's pray: Dear God, Thank You for food! Thank You for toys! Thank You for mommy and daddy! Thank You for everything! Help us remember to say "Thank You" every day. Amen.
