Look at this big clock! The clock has two hands. The little hand tells us the hour. The big hand tells us the minutes. When both hands point to the twelve, it's twelve o'clock! Can you point to the twelve? Good job!
We look at clocks every day. We look to see what time it is. If mommy says "We're going to the park at three o'clock," we watch the clock. We wait and wait. Is it time yet? Is it time yet? When it's three o'clock, we go to the park!
Today we start a special time called Advent. Advent means something very important is coming! What's coming? Christmas! We're waiting for Christmas when baby Jesus was born. But we're also waiting for something else very special. Jesus is coming back!
Jesus said he will come back one day. But he didn't tell us when. He said, "I will come back, but you don't know when. So be ready! Be good and kind every day." How do we get ready? We love each other. We help mommy and daddy. We share our toys. We are kind to our friends.
These are the same good things we do to get ready for Christmas too! Instead of thinking "What will I get?" we think "What can I give?" We can give hugs. We can give help. We can give love.
Dear Jesus, we're excited that you're coming back! Help us be good and kind every day so we're ready. Amen.
