Do you know Mr. Rogers? He was on TV! He would sing a song about being neighbors. He would sing, "Won't you be my neighbor?" Mr. Rogers was a very good neighbor to everyone!
One day, a man asked Jesus, "Who is my neighbor?" Jesus told him a story!
A man was walking down the road. Oh no! Some bad men hurt him and took his things. The man was very sad and hurt. He needed help!
A church man walked by. Did he help? No! He walked away. That's not being a good neighbor.
Another church man walked by. Did he help? No! He walked away too. That's not being a good neighbor either.
Then a different man came walking. He saw the hurt man. What did he do? He stopped! He helped! He put bandages on the hurt man. He took him to get better. He was a VERY good neighbor!
Jesus asked, "Who was the good neighbor?" The man said, "The one who helped!" Jesus said, "Yes! You be a good neighbor too!"
We can be good neighbors! When someone is sad, we can give hugs. When someone falls down, we can help them up. When someone is lonely, we can play with them. Good neighbors help each other!
Let's pray! Dear God, help us be good neighbors. Help us be kind and help others. Thank you for Jesus. Amen.
