But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, "Lord, doesn't it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me." But the Lord said to her, "My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Do you have a toy phone? *Hold up toy phone* Ring ring! Hello! Phones are fun to play with! But sometimes big people look at their phones too much and forget to listen to important things.

Today we're going to hear about two sisters named Mary and Martha. They were Jesus' friends! One day, Jesus came to visit their house. Knock knock! "Come in, Jesus!" said Martha.
Martha wanted to make Jesus happy. She ran around the kitchen. Chop chop chop! She cut up food. Stir stir stir! She mixed things in a bowl. She was very busy! But her sister Mary did something different. Mary sat right next to Jesus. She listened to Jesus talk. She looked at Jesus with big eyes and listened with her ears.
Martha got upset. "Jesus!" she said. "Mary isn't helping me! Tell her to come help!" But Jesus said, "Martha, you're doing too many things. Mary is doing the most important thing. She's listening to me!"
Mary chose the best thing! She sat close to Jesus and listened. When we listen to Jesus, that makes him very happy! We can listen to Jesus when mommy and daddy read Bible stories. We can listen when we sing songs about Jesus. We can listen when we pray.
Let's remember: Listening to Jesus is the most important thing we can do!
Dear Jesus, help us to listen to you with our ears and our hearts. We love you! Amen.
