Do you know what rules are? Rules help us know what to do! At home, mommy and daddy have rules like "be nice to your sister" and "put your toys away." At preschool, your teacher has rules too!
Rules are good! They help us be safe and happy. The most important rule at school is "listen to your teacher." Another important rule is "be kind to your friends." When we follow these rules, everyone is happy!
Jesus had some very important rules too! Some grown-ups asked Jesus, "What is the most important rule?" They wanted to know which rule was the very, very best.
Do you want to know what Jesus said? Jesus said the most important rule is "Love God with all your heart!" That means we love God SO much - more than toys, more than candy, more than anything!
Jesus also said, "Love other people too!" We should love mommy and daddy, and grandma and grandpa, and our friends at church, and everyone!
Love God! Love people! These are Jesus' most important rules. When we love God and love people, we make Jesus happy!
Let's pray: Dear God, help us love you SO much! Help us love mommy and daddy and our friends. Thank you for loving us! Amen.
