Now Thomas (called Didymus), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, "We have seen the Lord!" But he said to them, "Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe it." John 20:24-25 (NIV)

Sometimes grown-ups show pictures to prove who they are. Like when Mommy shows her card at the store. The picture shows it's really Mommy!
Jesus had friends called disciples. One day, Jesus died on a cross. His friends were very sad. But guess what? Jesus came back to life! He was alive again! His friends were so happy!
One friend named Thomas wasn't there. The other friends said, "We saw Jesus! He's alive!" But Thomas said, "I don't believe you. I need to see Jesus myself."
Then Jesus came to see Thomas. Jesus showed Thomas his hands. "Look, Thomas! It's really me!" Thomas was so happy! "It IS Jesus!" he said.
Jesus loves you even if you can't see him right now. You don't need to see Jesus to know he loves you. Jesus is real! Jesus is alive! Jesus loves you!
Dear Jesus, thank you for loving us. Thank you for being alive. Help us remember you love us every day. Amen.
