Modeling clay - some for each child

Escritura

Isaiah 64:1-9

Give each child a ball of clay. Tell them to hold it in their hands.

Today we have clay! Clay is squishy and fun. We can make things with clay. A person who makes things with clay is called a potter.

Let's be potters! I'll say something to make and you make it. Ready? Make a ball! (Give kids time to roll a ball.) Good job! Now make it flat like a pancake! (Give kids time to flatten it.) Great! Now make a snake! (Give kids time to roll a snake.) Wow! You are good potters!

What happens if we leave clay out? (Let kids answer.) It gets hard! When clay is hard, it's not easy to squish anymore.

In the Bible, there was a man named Isaiah. God's people had hard hearts. They didn't listen to God. Isaiah was sad. He talked to God about it.

But Isaiah knew something special! He knew God could make hard hearts soft again. Isaiah said to God, "You are like a potter. We are like clay. You can make us good again with Your hands."

God loves us so much! Sometimes our hearts get hard when we don't listen to God. But God can make our hearts soft again! God is the potter. We are the clay. (Help kids make their clay into heart shapes.)

Look at your clay heart! God wants to make our real hearts loving and kind. Let's hold our clay hearts and pray.

Dear God, help our hearts be soft and loving. Make us good like You want us to be. Thank You for loving us. Amen.
