We are called to be separate from the world

A clear bottle with a top, water, vegetable oil, food coloring. Fill the bottle about 1/3 full with water, and add enough brightly-colored food coloring to make it readily visible. Add vegetable oil until the bottle is about 2/3 full. The oil will float on the water, but when the jar is shaken vigorously, the oil and water will appear to become one. But, if left to stand for a brief period of time, (about 30 seconds) they will separate again.

Look at this bottle! It has two things inside. Can you see? There's colored water and there's oil. The water is pretty colors! The oil looks different.
Watch what happens when I shake it! Shake, shake, shake! Now they look all mixed up together. But wait... let's watch some more. Look! They're separating again! The water goes here and the oil goes there. They don't want to stay mixed up!
Jesus wants us to be like this bottle! We live in the world with lots of people. But Jesus wants us to stay special - just like we are! We can play with our friends and be kind to everyone. But we always remember that Jesus loves us and we love Jesus back.
When we're at the playground, we can share our toys. When we're at the store with Mommy, we can use our nice words. We live with everyone else, but we stay Jesus' special children!
Just like the colored water stays pretty even when it's with the oil, we stay Jesus' children even when we're playing with other kids. We can be kind and loving everywhere we go!
Let's pray: Dear Jesus, help us remember that you love us. Help us be kind to everyone but always remember we are your special children. Amen.
