It All Depends on the Dirt (Preschool Adaptation)

Have you ever seen seeds before? Seeds are tiny little things that grow into big plants! Today Jesus told us a story about seeds.

A man went out to plant seeds. He threw the seeds everywhere! Some seeds fell on the hard road. The birds came and ate them up! Yum, yum, yum! Some seeds fell on rocks. They started to grow but then they got too hot and dried up. Some seeds fell where there were weeds. The weeds were mean and pushed the little plants away. But some seeds fell on good dirt. Those seeds grew big and strong!

Jesus says God's words are like seeds. And we are like the dirt! When we come to church and listen to Bible stories, it's like planting seeds in our hearts. When we pay attention and listen with our ears, we are good dirt! When we wiggle and don't listen, we are hard dirt like the road.

God wants us to be good dirt! Good dirt listens to Bible stories. Good dirt learns about Jesus. Good dirt is kind to friends. Good dirt says please and thank you. Good dirt helps mommy and daddy.

Let's be good dirt together! We can listen with our ears. We can sit quietly. We can learn about Jesus. When we do these things, God's love grows big in our hearts!

Dear Jesus, help us be good dirt. Help us listen to your words. Help us grow big and strong like the good seeds. We love you! Amen.
