Jonah Runs from God (Preschool Adaptation)

Do you know Jonah? Jonah loved God! (Let children wave their hands.)

One day, God said, "Jonah, go tell people to be good!" But Jonah said, "No, no, no!" (Have children shake their heads and say "No!")

Jonah ran away! Run, run, run! (Have kids run in place.) He got on a big boat. Row, row, row! (Have kids pretend to row.)

But God made a big storm! Whoosh! Whoosh! (Have kids wave their arms like wind.) The boat went up and down, up and down! (Have kids stand up and sit down.)

Oh no! Jonah fell in the water! Splash! (Pretend to fall down.) But God sent a big fish! The fish went CHOMP! (Have kids open and close their mouths like a fish.)

Jonah was inside the fishy! It was dark and smelly! (Have kids hold their noses.) Jonah said, "Sorry, God! I will obey!" (Have kids fold their hands.)

The fish went BLAH and spit Jonah out! (Have kids pretend to spit.) Jonah was all wet but safe!

God said again, "Go tell people to be good!" This time Jonah said, "Yes, God!" (Have children nod and say "Yes!")

Jonah obeyed God! He was happy! God has jobs for you too! When Mommy and Daddy ask you to do something, say "Yes!" like Jonah!
