Then Jesus said to his host, "When you give a luncheon or dinner, do not invite your friends, your brothers or relatives, or your rich neighbors; if you do, they may invite you back and so you will be repaid. But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be repaid at the resurrection of the righteous." Look at this pretty invitation! Oh wait... you don't have one? That makes me sad. When we don't get invited to a party, we feel sad. Nobody likes to feel left out!
Do you have parties? Do you invite all your friends? Sometimes we forget to invite everyone. Maybe we forget the little boy with glasses. Maybe we forget the girl who uses a wheelchair. Maybe we forget someone who looks different from us. When we forget people, they feel very sad.
Jesus wants us to invite EVERYONE to our parties! Jesus says invite the sad children. Invite the children who need help. Invite ALL the children! When we are kind to everyone, Jesus is happy. When we share with everyone, God gives us big hugs in heaven!
Do you want God to be happy? Then invite everyone to play! Share your toys with everyone! Be kind to ALL your friends!
Oh! This invitation isn't real. I was just pretending! Nobody got left out today. That makes me happy! You are ALL invited to God's big family!
Dear God, help us be kind to everyone. Help us share our toys. Help us invite everyone to play. We love Jesus! Amen.
