..."A man had a fig tree, planted in his vineyard, and he went to look for fruit on it, but did not find any. So he said to the man who took care of the vineyard, 'For three years now I've been coming to look for fruit on this fig tree and haven't found any. Cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?' " 'Sir,' the man replied, 'leave it alone for one more year, and I'll dig around it and fertilize it. If it bears fruit next year, fine! If not, then cut it down.' " Luke 13:6-9 (NIV)

Jesus told us a story about a tree. A man planted a little tree. He wanted the tree to grow big fruit. But wait and wait and wait... no fruit! The tree had no fruit for a long, long time.
The man said, "This tree has no fruit. I don't want it anymore." But his helper said, "Wait! Let's help the tree! Let's give it water and good dirt. Maybe it will grow fruit!"
Jesus wants us to be like good trees! God wants us to be kind. God wants us to share. God wants us to love our friends. God wants us to obey Mommy and Daddy. That's our good fruit!
How can we grow good fruit? We can pray to God! We can listen to Bible stories! We can sing songs about Jesus! That helps us be good!
Let's pray right now! Dear God, help us be kind. Help us share. Help us love. Thank you, God! Amen!
