A Yo-Yo

Escritura

Exodus 12:1-14

Do you know what a yo-yo is? A yo-yo goes up and down, up and down! Let's try it together. Stand up! Sit down! Stand up! Sit down! Good job!

Sometimes we feel happy - that's up! Sometimes we feel sad - that's down. God loves us when we're happy and when we're sad.

Today we'll learn about Moses and a mean king named Pharaoh. God's people were sad because they had to work very hard for the mean king. That's down! God wanted to help them. That's up!

God told Moses, "Go tell the king to let my people go free!" Moses said, "King, let God's people go!" But the mean king said, "NO!" That made God sad.

So God sent yucky things to the mean king's land. Ribbit, ribbit - LOTS of frogs everywhere! Buzz, buzz - LOTS of flies! The king said, "Okay, okay, they can go!" But then he changed his mind and said, "NO!" again. The king kept saying yes, then no, then yes, then no - just like a yo-yo!

Finally, God said something very important to Moses. He said, "Tell my people to put red paint on their doors. When I see the red paint, I will keep them safe." So Moses told everyone, "Put red paint on your door!" And they did!

That night, God kept His people safe because of the red paint. The mean king finally said, "Yes! You can go!" And God's people were free! Hooray!

God loves us too! Just like He helped His people long ago, God helps us. Jesus loves us so much. When we do wrong things, Jesus forgives us. That means He's not mad at us anymore!

Let's pray: Dear God, thank you for loving us. Thank you for Jesus. Help us to be good. Amen.
