Do you know what weeds are? Weeds are bad plants that grow where we don't want them. If you have a garden with yummy tomatoes, weeds might grow next to the tomatoes. The weeds are not good. They take the food away from the good plants.
What do you do with weeds? You might want to pull them out! But wait - if you pull too hard, you might pull out the good plants too! Oops! That's not good. Sometimes it's better to wait and let the grown-ups take care of the weeds later.
Jesus told a story about weeds and good plants. He said that people are like plants in God's garden. Some people are good and kind. They share their toys and say nice words. Some people are not so nice. They might say mean things or not listen to God.
Jesus said we should not try to fix the mean people. That's God's job! God knows who is good and who is not good. We should just try to be good plants ourselves. We can be kind. We can share. We can love each other.
When someone is not being nice at church, we don't need to tell them to go away. We just keep being good and kind. God will take care of everything else.
Dear God, help us to be good plants in your garden. Help us to be kind and loving. Thank you for taking care of us. Amen.
