Then Jesus said to Simon, "Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people." Luke 5:10 (NIV)
Do you like fish? Fish swim in the water! Jesus had friends who caught fish. Their names were Simon and his helpers. They used big nets to catch lots of fish!

One day, Jesus was talking to many people by the water. So many people wanted to hear Jesus! Jesus got in Simon's boat. The boat went out on the water a little bit. Now everyone could see Jesus and hear him talk!
When Jesus was done talking, he said to Simon, "Put your net in the deep water to catch fish!"
Simon said, "Jesus, we tried all night. We didn't catch any fish. But okay, I will try again because you said so."
Guess what happened? SO MANY FISH! The net was full, full, full of fish! There were too many fish! Simon called his friends to help. Both boats were full of fish!
Simon was so surprised! He knew Jesus was very special. Jesus had power to do amazing things!
Jesus said to Simon, "Don't be scared. Now you will catch people instead of fish!"
What did Jesus mean? Simon wouldn't throw nets on people! That would be silly! Jesus meant Simon would tell people about God's love. Simon would help people know Jesus!
Simon and his friends left their boats and fish. They followed Jesus everywhere. They told people about Jesus!
Jesus wants us to tell our friends about him too! We can tell mommy, daddy, and our friends that Jesus loves them!
Let's pray: Dear God, help us tell our friends about Jesus. Jesus loves everyone! Amen.
