God says, "Do not turn to idols" (Leviticus 19:4). Let's pray to keep God in first place and not let anything become an idol in our lives.Do any of you have something that’s really special to you? If so how special is it? (after the kids answer)
It’s alright to have something that’s special to you, just don’t allow it to become more important than God. That even means your mom and dad. I don’t mean for you to stop loving your mom and dad -- just be sure to put God first.
Objects like this bill (the fake 20, 50, or 100 dollar bill) could become more important to us than God. You might even have a hobby that you put before God. Anything that you put before God becomes a sin. In the Bible, God says,“Do not turn to idols or make gods of cast metal for yourselves. I am the LORD your God.” (Leviticus 19:4)
Dear Father, we give you first place in our life. Help us to keep anything from becoming more important to us than You. Amen.
