Scripture

Genesis 22:8

Today we're going to play "Who Do You Trust?" I have two friends here. One friend you know really well - that's (name of person). One friend you don't know - that's (name of person). They will tell you how to find yummy treats! But you can only pick ONE friend to trust.

Listen to both friends. Then tell me - who do you trust?

Why do you trust that friend?

Let's follow the directions! Only one way will find the treats. When we find them, we'll all share!

Good job! You trusted (name of person) because you know them. You know they tell the truth!

Today we'll hear about Abraham and Isaac. They trusted God! When I put my hand by my ear like this (show them), you say "WOW!" in your biggest, most surprised voice!

Abraham was Isaac's daddy. Abraham and mommy Sarah were very, very old when baby Isaac was born. (Hand to ear) Like your grandma and grandpa old!

One day, God talked to Abraham. God said, "Take Isaac up the big mountain. Give me what you love most." (Hand to ear) Abraham loved Isaac SO much!

So Abraham and Isaac walked up the big, big mountain. (Hand to ear) Up, up, up they went!

Isaac said, "Daddy, where's the little lamb?" (Hand to ear) They needed a lamb to give to God.

Abraham said, "God will give us a lamb, Isaac. God always takes care of us."

They walked and walked until they got to the top. Abraham was ready to give God what he loved most. (Hand to ear)

Then Abraham looked around. He saw a fluffy sheep stuck in the bushes! (Hand to ear) The sheep's horns were all tangled up!

So Abraham took the sheep and gave it to God instead.

Abraham trusted God completely. And God gave them exactly what they needed - just like Abraham said He would!

When we trust God, He always takes care of us. Always!

Dear God, help us trust You like Abraham did. Help us remember You always take care of us. In Jesus' name, amen.
