Jesus Says No To Temptation (Preschool Adaptation)

Recommended Age:

Lower Elementary

Theme

Resisting Satan's temptation.

Object

None needed. The children will play the game "Simon Says."

Scripture

Matthew 4:1-11 (The temptation of Christ) and 2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.

Let's play a fun game! When I say "Jesus says," you do it. When I don't say "Jesus says," don't do it. Ready?

Jesus says, "Clap your hands!" (Clap clap clap!)

Jesus says, "Touch your nose!" (Touch your nose!)

Jump up and down! (Wait... did Jesus say to do that? No! Good job!)

Jesus says, "Give yourself a hug!" (Big hug!)

Jesus says, "Wiggle your fingers!" (Wiggle wiggle!)

Stomp your feet! (Did Jesus say stomp? No! You're so smart!)

Good job playing! In our game, we listen to Jesus. In real life, we listen to Jesus too!

Sometimes the devil tries to trick us. The devil is not nice. But Jesus loves us!

If someone has a toy and you want it, the devil says "Take it!" But Jesus says "Ask nicely" or "Wait your turn."

If you spill your juice, the devil says "Hide it!" But Jesus says "Tell mommy" and "Say sorry."

If your friend is sad, the devil says "Don't care." But Jesus says "Give a hug" and "Be kind."

Jesus always tells us good things to do. The Bible tells us what Jesus wants. We listen to Jesus, not the devil!

Let's pray: Dear Jesus, help us listen to you. Help us be good. Help us be kind. We love you, Jesus. Amen.
