I wanted a yummy snack! I looked in the cookie jar. Empty! I looked for ice cream. Nothing! But I found pudding mix. The box had directions. Step one: Mix with milk. Step two: Put in bowls. Wait five minutes. So easy! The pudding was yummy!
Who likes pudding? Raise your hands! Following directions is easy when we listen.
Today we learn about a man named Naaman. Naaman was very sick. His skin had owies called leprosy. A little girl said, "Go see God's helper Elisha! He can make you better!"
So Naaman went to see Elisha. But Elisha didn't come outside. He sent a friend who said, "Go wash in the river seven times. Then you'll be all better!"
Let's count to seven! One, two, three, four, five, six, seven! That's how many times Naaman needed to wash.
But Naaman was grumpy. "I don't want to wash in that yucky river!" he said. His friends said, "Just try it! It's easy!" So Naaman went splash, splash, splash in the river seven times. And guess what? All his owies went away! He was all better!
God has good directions for us too. When Mommy says "brush your teeth," that keeps our teeth healthy! When Daddy says "hold my hand," that keeps us safe! When the Bible says "be kind," that makes friends happy!
Following God's directions is good for us. Let's pray: Dear God, help us listen and follow Your good directions. In Jesus' name, amen.
