Scripture
"He who receives you receives me, and he who receives me receives the one who sent me. Anyone who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet's reward, and anyone who receives a righteous man because he is a righteous man will receive a righteous man's reward. And if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is my disciple, I tell you the truth, he will certainly not lose his reward." Matthew 10:40-42 (NIV)

Look at this! (Hold up the Welcome mat.) This says "Welcome!" We put this by our door at home. It helps clean our shoes. And it says "Come in! You are welcome here!"
Welcome means we are happy to see someone! We smile and say "Hi!" We are kind and friendly.
Do we welcome everyone? Yes! We welcome friends with different color skin. We welcome friends who have different clothes. We welcome everyone!
At church, we welcome everyone too! We say "Hi!" to new friends. We smile at visitors. We share our toys. We are kind to everyone who comes to church.
Jesus wants us to welcome everyone. When we are kind to others, we are being kind like Jesus! Jesus loves everyone, and we should too.
Let's practice! Wave and say "Welcome!" (Have children wave.) Good job! Let's always welcome everyone with big smiles and kind hearts!
Dear God, help us welcome everyone with smiles and kindness, just like Jesus does. Amen.
