The Ten Commandments (Preschool Adaptation)

Recommended Age:

Lower Elementary

Theme

Obeying God's commandments

Object

"The 10 Commandments Coloring Page" - two copies (link below); crayons

Scripture

Exodus 20:1-17

Look at these two pictures! One picture has colors inside the lines. One picture has colors everywhere - what a mess!

When you first learned to color, you colored all over! Colors went everywhere! That's okay - you were learning!

Now you're getting better at coloring inside the lines. Good job!

God gave us rules called the Ten Commandments. Rules help us! Rules keep us safe! Rules help us be good!

Some people don't follow God's rules. They make bad choices. Their life gets messy - like this messy picture!

Some people follow God's rules. They try to be good. Their life is neat - like this neat picture!

Sometimes we all make mistakes. That's called sin. But Jesus loves us! Jesus helps us!

Do you want your life to be neat like this picture? Or messy like this picture?

God wants us to follow His rules. Jesus loves us even when we mess up. Jesus helps us be good!

Let's pray: Dear God, help us follow Your rules. Help us be good. Thank You for Jesus who loves us. Amen.
